Goat Trail to Big Bluff

Located just a 29-minute drive from the hotel. The Goat Trail to Big Bluff is the perfect adventure for anyone seeking sweeping views of the Buffalo River paired with an impressive geological setting. Big Bluff rises about 550 feet above the river, making it the tallest sheer bluff face between the Rockies and the Appalachians—an unforgettable sight for those who make the trek.

The hike typically takes 4 to 5 hours round-trip, and while the views are incredible, the narrow trail and steep drop-offs require serious caution. This route is not suitable for young children, and anyone with vertigo or a fear of heights should avoid it. For confident hikers, though, the Goat Trail offers one of the most dramatic overlooks in the region.

Located just a 12-minute drive from the hotel, the Natural Bridge is one of the Ozark National Forest’s most striking formations. This easy-to-moderate 1.1-mile trail leads you to a massive stone arch that stretches about 130 feet across and stands roughly 20 feet wide. After taking in the views from above, you can either head back the way you came or follow the loop trail. The loop continues beneath the arch, crosses a small creek, winds along the bluffs, and eventually brings you back to the Natural Bridge—offering a fuller look at this impressive geological feature.

Glory Hole

Located just a 37-minute drive from the hotel, Sam’s Throne offers a scenic trail with impressive views of Big Creek Valley and the surrounding bluff lines. The area carries a rich piece of local folklore dating back to the early 1800s. According to legend, a buffalo hunter and farmer named Sam Davis spent years searching these valleys for his missing sister, who he believed had been taken by a Native American tribe. It’s said that Sam climbed this mountain each morning to preach to the families living below, and over time, the landmark became known as Sam’s Throne in his honor.
